spin-off of eighth Doctor??

The famous British TV drama series "Doctor Who" is, unfortunately, not popular in my country. I think only some episodes have been broadcast in Japan, and I believe most of Japanese do not know about the series. (I, too, have never watched it except the episode of 8th Doctor starring Paul McGann.) So generally there is no excitement about the 50th anniversary of the series here.
But now I and 2 friends are chatting quite loudly about the new episode... not the 50th anniversary episode but its short prequel "The Night of the Doctor" featuring Paul McGann as the Doctor again - needless to say three of us are the fans of Lt.Bush in "Hornblower" XD
We heard that some fans are now requesting BBC to make the spin-off drama of 8th Doctor ... it will be more than welcome! And if it would be released on internet it's better for us who can't access UK broadcasting.
