Mr.Uma's misfortune
Aug. 30th, 2015 04:31 pmUnluckily Mr.Uma happens to have malocclusion which has caused many troubles in his mouth for years. I have often had to take him to the vet to cut his overglown teeth, every morning and evening I give him some medicine. Mr.Uma is a very gentle rabbit but at the same time he is strong enough to have overcome all those troubles, and he is lucky to have a very good physician in charge :)
His recent, and quite troublesome problem was a abscess on his right jaw - the roots of his slanting molars grew downward and caused pus inside of his jaw -, despite the antibiotics he have had for weeks the abscess keeps growing so we (the vet and I) have decided to do surgery on his jaw. We didn't want to put him under the general anesthesia for he was an old rabbit but it seemed we had no choise. So yesterday morning I took him to the vet, in the afternoon the vet performed surgery and late in the evening I again went to the vet to take Mr.Uma home.
Thank God Mr.Uma has woken from the general anesthesia safely, but when we came home yesterday night he seemed to be quite depressed and tired, and he of course does not like wearing a Elizabethan colour (the medical necker) .

I worry about his recovery but at the moment he looks so so - not very vivid but he ate and pooped well. The vet said Mr.Uma would have to wear the colour for at least 1 week - maybe more than 10 days. So I'd have to keep my eye on him for a while.
