Fuki shoots
Jan. 31st, 2016 02:52 pmIt's mid winter, today it's cloudy and cold. Our garden looks rather dreary.

Still the time is rolling, in this midwinter the nature is preparing for spring. Today I found these at the edge of my garden.

These are the shoots of Fuki(butterbur), the sign of the very early spring. I usualy chop them and mix them with miso(soybean paste) then eat as relish. But today I got many shoots so mother said she'd fry them as tempura.

Fuki shoot has some bitterness but tastes quite good as tempura :) The taste of early spring...

Add a photo of tempura of Fuki shoots(the green ones in front). Yummy :)
