Yesterday I and my friend went to see "open garden", visiting someone's private garden and pay for the charity. I think this kind of event is still unusual in Japan but my friend happened to know someone of the group of amateur gardeners and invited me to join him.

The garden was not the traditional Japanese one but Western style on the slope behind the house, not especially big but well maintained, there were many small flowers and the colour of them & greens were wonderful. I really admired the effort of the owner.

The young lady, the daughter of the owner of the house and garden served cups of tea and homemade cookies to the guests, and there were the live performance of harp and electronic organ. The whole atmosphere was very elegant and at the same time familiar, we enjoyed conversations.

After leaving there we went to Kamakura, the old Samurai capital of Japan(12-14 century), now the popular sightseeing spot 30 minutes train ride from Yokohama. There we had lunch then enjoyed some walking. It was cloudy but the air was fresh and comfortable.

(The cafe we had lunch, the building was a small, old - 50~80 years old? not sure but old enough to make us feel nostalgia - house, a former residence for an ordinary family.)

(A small museum famous for its grand building which was originally a house of some noble family, and its huge garden)

Seeing a beautiful garden, walking, conversations... well, it's a very fine day :)
