Groundbreaking ... and so on
Aug. 20th, 2013 11:53 pmThis morning we had the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of our new house. It was in traditional Shinto style, purifying the ground and praying the safety during the construction. A young Shinto priest celebrated the ceremony. We are not the serious believer as most of the ordinary Japanese isn't and this is just a tradition rather than religious event, and I think this was somehow impressing and nice to do this traditional thing.

In the afternoon we visited the office of the constructor who explained the estimate, and we signed on the contract.
Then in the evening my niece came here to stay one night and ask us about my grandfather ( her great-grandfather ) for her homework for the summer. The subject is family history and the like. I showed her the old photos of him which I found this year when I cleared the old closets.
Well... it's a fruitful but busy day...
