summer holidays

In our company the employees have 3 paid holidays as "summer holiday", we can choose any 3 straight work days from July to September. So on 1st, 2nd Sep and today (5th) I'm taking my "summer holiday". I chose these 3 days just because I had no business meeting or appointment etc on these 3 days, and no particular plan for holiday. I have asked my best friend to meet on Sunday(yesterday) but had no plan, maybe just going out with her, strolling around or having supper together... But she said "you should spend some money for your summer holiday!" (this means, not about the money but I should do something special to make good memory of summer) and found a hotel where we can use their hot springs, swimming pool and stay in a private room all day but not overnight stay. The hotel was in Ito,  a small but famous town for their hot springs on Izu peninsula. So yesterday morning I, my friend and her husband took an limited express (it's about 1 hour and half train ride from Yokohama to Ito) to go to the hotel. There we stayed in a big Tatami room, enjoyed Scrabble game and the food we've brought, swimmed in their indoor pool and enjoyed hot spring :)  And in the evening we took a train to home.
It's Saturday evening we'd decided to go there (thanks for internet with which we can book a room or train just before the event) , this was really a sudden outing. But my friend was right, it's a enjoyable day, worth the money we paid for the hotel and transportation. And I thank my friend for her rather forcible XD advise to go out for my holiday.
