mind the gap

This evening I was queuing for the bus. It was where I seldom visit, it was raining so I had an umbrella and a big shopping bag of groceries, also I was lost in thoughts when the bus came ...so I didn't notice there was a gap on the pavement and stumbled on it. It's rather fortunate I didn't fall but I knocked my leg badly against the step of the bus. When I came home and take off my clothes I found a huge bump and bruise on my right shin. It doesn't ache much but rather numb at the moment, I hope this would not get worse tomorrow morning. So today's lesson was, as they say in UK train station, "Mind the gap"!!  X(
