katriona_sMany many many years ago … just before I graduated the university, I had traveled around Britain for about two weeks with my sister. Our first foreign trip by our own (no group tour). We were young and didn’t have much money so it was a trip with backpacks, staying at cheap B&B and buying meals at supermarket etc. But we wanted to get something really nice as the souvenir and just once we did shopping in an expensive store. We went to the big shop of Wedgewood tableware and bought some smart plates and sent them home. It’s quite expensive shopping for us in twenties, but we were satisfied with what we got.
Though, frankly our dining style at home didn’t match those plates, especially when we were young, and because we treasured them very much thus didn’t want to use them for our usual supper, etc…
The result was, those plates have been put in the boxes preciously and seldom been used though we have never forgot them. And after I had built the current house 8 years ago I found we didn’t have enough space for all dishware and the memorable Wedgewood plates were still in the boxes in the kitchen closet. This is not good. The tableware is the things we should use in our life.
One of the purpose of the recent renovation was making the space for these precious plates, from where we can easily take them out and use them often.
I put them in the new drawers, now it’s easy to take them out. Recently we used them for our supper :)
I’m glad now I can use them anytime :)
