The expensive hotel

Last night I have talked with a friend (on the phone) for over an hour. She told me our mutual friend who had worked for a big hotel as the PR manager for years has recently quited and started working for a new hotel in Atami, the famous resort town with nice hot springs on Izu peninsula. That new hotel is not very big but a luxurious. We are curious about what kind of place our friend now work for but the hotel is too expensive for us. It costs more than 60 thousand yen (about 450$) for one night for 1 person - on my domestic trip I usually pay about 20 thousand yen for the decent hotel. X(

And I think … the hotel has about 80 rooms and 60 thousand is the price for their smallest room, there are 80 people every day, who can pay this price when many ordinary people has serious trouble about how to pay for the food, rent, children’s school etc. Of course there are always rich people and poor people in every country. Still this idea made me feel rather uneasy :(

Well, it is everywhere like that - and the gaps between the rich and the poor and this gap keeps getting deeper and deeper...

Yes you are right. The gap itself is OK - not OK but we can’t help it. The problem is that the gap is getting deeper. Also, I noticed that now there are more “rich people” than before here, this means the number of the “poor” people is also increasing. I’m not rich but fortunately have no serious financial problem, so-called middle class I believe. And this class is now getting less, I’m afraid.
